My first labor cramp

Well, I went into labor last night- in my leg! I felt like I was having a baby out of my calf! It was horrible. I screamed for what felt like forever. Enrique finally had to massage it out and tell me to flex my foot upward. I couldn't go back to sleep, I was scared of getting attacked again. I laid in bed thinking how on earth am I ever going to get through labor when I thought I was going to die from a cramp in my leg?!

  1. Hi Sweetheart! You brought back memories. I used to have those too! They are very painful. I learned to flex my toes upward from the moment I first felt them coming on and that seemed to make them less painful. Good Luck! You are lucky to have a compassionate husband there to help you through them. Drink more milk!

  2. I remember having those at night when I was preggers with Maika! Shocking huh? Your mom is totally right, you should immediately flex your foot back so your heel is pushing outward. Also, eat Tums or some other calcium source... the lack of calcium is part of the problem. Don't worry though, you'll get through labor just like you got through that cramp... with the help of your hubby, taking it as it comes. :)

  3. Okay so the EXACT same thing happened to me. And it probably won't be the last time it happens to you. It is the worst thing ever. Honestly worse than actually birthing the baby. The first night it happened I never went back to bed because I was so scared of it happening again. I walked up and down the hall for hours trying to relax my leg. And you are sore the next day.

I ate two tums everyday and I swore it helped. I feel your pain!

  6. Sounds like a charlie horse! That happened to me with Alex and Steve just about had a panic attack because I was screaming. Seriously, I thought my calf muscle was going to be birthed out of my leg! I found that I could NEVER point/flex my toes while lying in bed otherwise my leg would explode. My doc said to try magnesium tablets. I also would stand on it without putting all my weight on it and it felt a little better and seem to go away faster. So sorry! It's not fun.
